Chronic pain is pain that continues for months or years. It can be experienced in all parts of the body, and can be there all of the time, or may come and go. Chronic pain can interfere with daily life and lead to depression, anxiety, trouble sleeping, and addictive coping behaviours. When the cause of chronic pain cannot be found and/or effectively treated, the focus turns to pain management, which involves a combination of medication, lifestyle changes, and therapy. Counselling can help you:

  • Explore and implement healthy lifestyle changes
  • Help you think differently about your pain
  • Teach you helpful ways to cope with pain
  • Help you get the most out of your life, despite the pain
