Canadian Certified Counsellor and Naturopath

Teresa Frampton

Teresa is a Canadian Certified Counsellor and Naturopath. She is an empathic, kind, and nonjudgmental counsellor who is passionate about helping individuals overcome their struggles with mental health, and cultivate the self-compassion needed to help them heal from past traumas. Feelings of stress and anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, and relationship difficulties have feelings of shame and self-criticism at their core. Directing compassion toward ourselves can allow us to feel safe and accepted, and give us the caring motivation to work through our suffering in helpful ways.

Teresa has experience providing counselling services in an acute psychiatric care facility, and is comfortable working with a wide range of presenting issues. Every person is unique, and therefore, Teresa draws on a number of counselling orientations and techniques to fit the person and the particular issues they are facing.

Biography:

Born and raised in Newfoundland, I’ve learned to appreciate the simple things in life. I’m a lover of nature, books, and connecting deeply with others. I’ve learned that healing happens through relationships, which is why I bring my genuine, authentic self to each counselling session. Outside of my career, I spend most of my time with my partner and our 2 year old son, Mason. You will likely find us at the beach, a park, or an ice cream shop! (even though I’m lactose intolerant).

Professional Life:

I started out in the field of mental health over five years ago, providing front-line care and crisis intervention to at-risk children and youth in residential settings. Since then, I’ve worked in an acute psychiatric care facility providing inpatient and outpatient counselling services, and have more recently created Compassion Haven. My approach to therapy is highly trauma-informed, person-centred, and depth-oriented. This means that I view you as the expert on your own life, and I rely on kind, empathic understanding to help you connect with your suffering in a compassionate way. I also believe in the importance of uncovering patterns in our lives and working through past traumas in order to change the relationship we have with ourselves, others, and the world. I truly believe that we are all doing the best we can with the resources we have at any moment, and the only way out of suffering is through.
